BBQ between friends

friends!

Advanced planning is often the key to keeping stress levels in
check when organizing a BBQ party or get
together.
7 days ahead
- Evaluate the interior and exterior layout of your home.
- Think of your neighbours, if they are close, they may become annoyed by the BBQ smoke and noise. It’s always a good idea to inform them in advance!
- Evaluate your needs: how many chairs, folding tables, reusable plates and cutlery, napkins, garbage bags, etc.
- Plan the menu for your BBQ party
- Make a list of the ingredients you have in your pantry
- Buy wines, beer, soft drinks, fruit juices, frozen pops, potato chips, condiments and sauces (mustards, ketchup, olives, salsa, pesto, garlic sauce, marinades...)
4 days ahead
- Select the music for your barbecue party
- Make a list of fresh foods to buy : meat or fish
- Make a list of fruits and vegetables you’ll be serving
- Make a list of the bakery items you need to buy for your BBQ
- Make a list of the decorative items, balloons, games, Chinese lanterns, Citronella candles, etc.
- Proceed with purchases
2 days ahead
- Plan your meal preparation
- Mow the lawn
- Clean the garden or patio and the BBQ grill
- Make sure your BBQ equipment is clean and in good working order. Ensure that you have, depending on the type of BBQ, sufficient propane or charcoal briquettes.
The day before
- Prepare salads without the vinaigrette
- Prepare marinades and sauces
- Prepare fruits and vegetables and refrigerate
- Be prepared in case the weather is uncooperative: parasols, canvas covering, large umbrellas
- Stock up on ice cubes or prepare some yourself.
- Wash and slice your favourite citrus fruits (lemons, limes, oranges)
- Prepare sangria and summer fruit punches

- Decorate the area and set up tables and chairs - remember to take the wind into account
- Set the table, making sure the tablecloth is secured
- It’s a good idea to place small bowls of lemon water on the table if you are serving foods best eaten with fingers
- Lay the barbecue on a flat, stable surface, away from the wind
- Place a mat in front of the door to the patio to avoid tracking dirt into the house
- Marinate meats for 2-3 hours before cooking
- Light the barbecue at least 30 minutes before you are ready to start grilling.
- Turn on the music so that when the guests arrive, the ambiance is already set.
