Quail is categorized by the colour and aging of its delicious and delicate brown flesh. It is excellent accompanied with fruits such as: cherries, prunes and raisins.

Quail eggs are sold commercially as well. Even though very tiny, the beige speckled quail egg is edible and highly-prized. Quail eggs are generally hard-boiled for use in appetizers or for decorative purposes. They are well known for their delicate flavour and fine, creamy texture.
