Asparagus on the Barbecue?

Have you ever tried asparagus on the barbecue? Not only is it
possible, it’s delicious!
Run a skewer through them about one third of the way up from the bottom and another about two thirds up, making a little raft. Brush with oil and sprinkle with herbs to taste. Cook 3 to 5 minutes per side. That’s all there is to it! For even cooking, select same sized asparagus.
The double-skewer technique works equally well with scallions and green or butter beans and keeps them from slipping through the grill. If using wooden skewers, remember to soak them in warm water for 30 minutes so they won’t burn during cooking.
Did you know that asparagus comes in three different colours: white, green and purple? Green asparagus owes its colour to chlorophyll and sunlight, while white asparagus is grown in the dark. Pink - or purple - tipped asparagus is simply white asparagus briefly exposed to sunlight before harvesting. Available year round, asparagus is especially plentiful in March, April, May and June.
