Soleil & Fraîcheur, your Metro’s produce department, keeps bringing you new products. The latest, which it has been carrying for a few weeks now, is a tasty mix of salad Savoy and Swiss chard. This colourful mix combines crinkled purple, pink or creamy white leaves of salad Savoy with Swiss chard’s glossy green leaves and white and red stalks.
Crunchy, salad Savoy looks more like a flower than a vegetable and is reminiscent of broccoli and cauliflower in flavour. Swiss chard leaves taste rather like spinach while the stalks have a fresh, slightly bitter taste.
The salad Savoy and Swiss chard mix makes a striking salad. Spicy or slightly sweet dressings work particularly well with it. Check out All Recipes for ideas. This mix is also ideal for stir-fries. Just add some cubed chicken or beef, garlic and ginger for a quick and easy supper that looks good and tastes great! Lightly sautéed in a little butter or flavoured oil (ex. walnut, sesame), the mix makes a delicious side dish. In whatever guise you serve it, the brightly coloured mix makes an attractive addition to any meal. Discover what lies beyond Boston, romaine and iceberg!
