March 21, 2006 - Metro makes life easier for us through its support of the Metro makes life easier for customers through its support of the Association québécoise des allergies alimentaires

(Montreal, March 21, 2006)—Metro is proud to support the Association québécoise des allergies alimentaires (AQAA) [Quebec Food Allergy Association] by sponsoring the Certification Program for Optimal Control of Allergens in Processed Food (CAC).

Metro will promote the program in its existing advertising vehicles, such as its flyer and web site www.metro.ca, and throughout its network of over 240 Metro and Metro Plus food stores.

Specifically, periodically Metro will give space in its flyer, with its Quebec-wide circulation, to explaining the nature of the attestation and showing the certification logo developed by the AQAA. Also, whenever the Metro flyer features certified products, it will highlight the logo. Furthermore, manufacturers of certified products will be able to identify their certified products on the shelves of Metro supermarkets. Visitors to the Metro's website, www.metro.ca, that gets over 200,000 hits a month, and was ranked third best B2C site in Quebec by Commerce magazine in 2005. Finally, Metro newsletter subscribers who mentioned that they, or a family member, had food allergies will be notified immediately whenever new products are certified.

“Seeing customer requests for information on food allergies increase year after year, we feel that making these customers’ lives easier is important. Food allergies make life difficult for families, especially for the person in charge of grocery shopping. We welcome this AQAA initiative and want to show our support by spreading the news among consumers,” said Serge Boulanger, Metro’s Vice-President of Marketing.
