La Pocatière, Thursday, May 11, 2006—On May 9, pharmacists France Bernier, Diane Cloutier, and Élaine Lévesque became the official owners of the Brunet branchs at 1000–6e avenue in La Pocatière and 445 route de l'Église in Saint-Jean Port-Joli after acquiring them from Maurice Nolin, the owner since November 2000.
The new owners and partners are well-known faces in the two communities. Ms. Bernier has worked since 1992 at the Saint-Jean Port-Joli store and Ms. Lévesque since 1988 in La Pocatière, while Ms. Cloutier has shared her time between both locations for the past 25 years.
Staff at the two drugstores will remain unchanged, but the new owners already have plans for new initiatives, including a hypertension and diabetes monitoring service. In the meantime, the two branches will continue to offer the services customers are accustomed to, including the comprehensive orthopedic sales and rental service exclusive to Brunet. “Our sense of attachment to our customers and Brunet's health-centered philosophy were the inspiration for our decision to take over the reins from Mr. Nolin,” explained new co-owner France Bernier.
Owned by METRO RICHELIEU INC., the Brunet banner is celebrating its 151st anniversary this year. Much of its incredible growth is due to its continual efforts to improve the products and services it offers. In the coming years, Brunet plans to open a number of new outlets, all offering its unique and inventive take on the pharmacy world.
