Montréal, Monday, December 4, 2006 – The 113th
Brunet pharmacy officially opened its doors today at 2005
Sainte-Catherine St. East in Montréal. Owned by pharmacists Guy
Lachance and Pierre-Hugues Poirier, the new store is located next
to the METRO PLUS market and right under the Jacques-Cartier
Bridge. The new pharmacy required a 1.2 million dollar investment
and created some ten jobs.
In addition to a 12-second digital photo processing service using
genuine photo paper, a complete orthopaedic appliance sales and
rental service unique to Brunet and a natural products section, the
pharmacy will offer a methadone service. Available only at a few
pharmacies in the Montréal region, this service is intended for
patients dependent on certain substances who need to be monitored
more closely by their pharmacists. “Methadone helps relieve
withdrawal or dependency without causing side effects,” explained
Guy Lachance, also owner of a drugstore in Westmount. This service
is offered as part of a drug dependency and harm reduction
programme. Special clientele receiving the service will be able to
see their pharmacists privately by entering the pharmacy through a
separate door located at the back of the store.
With a floor space of 4000 square feet, the pharmacy also features
an extensive cosmetics department for both women and men. “Skin and
body care for men is becoming increasingly popular, and there is a
very strong demand in the sector for this type of product. Besides
offering a wide range of women’s cosmetics, our complete department
will meet the more specific needs of our male clientele,” pointed
out co-owner Poirier.
This 113th pharmacy will apply the all new in-store Health and
Hygiene programme recently introduced under the Brunet banner last
October; dispensers containing an alcohol-base hand cleaner for the
convenience of clients have been installed at the entrance of the
pharmacy and at the prescription counter in order to reduce the
transmission of bacteria.
Owned by METRO RICHELIEU INC., the Brunet banner is celebrating its
151st anniversary this year. Brunet continues to grow rapidly
through ongoing efforts in improving its products and services. In
the coming year, Brunet plans to open several new stores as it
continues to make its very own dynamic and innovative mark in the
pharmacy business.
