MONTREAL, January 29, 2008. Mr. Maurice Jodoin, Chairman of the Board of METRO INC., is pleased to announce that Mr. Pierre H. Lessard will become on April 15, 2008, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Jodoin, thanks Mr. Lessard for accepting to continue to contribute to METRO INC. “The Company truly benefits from his dynamic nature and his unrivalled experience”, stated the Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Pierre Brunet will become Lead Director on April 15, 2008. Mr. Brunet, who is Chairman of the Board of the Caisse de depot et placement du Québec, is a Director of the Company since 2001.

Mr. Jodoin announced that he will be leaving his function as director on April 15, 2008. Mr. Jodoin is Chairman of the Board since 2000 and a Director since 1987. He was one of the first independent directors elected on the Board of Directors of METRO INC. “I thank Mr. Jodoin for the excellent work he has performed for more than 20 years on the Board of Directors, more specifically as Chairman of the Board since 2000, and for supporting the Management of the Company over these years”, stated Pierre H. Lessard.

Mr. Eric R. La Flèche, who, as previously announced, will become in April 2008, Chief Executive Officer of METRO INC., will then be appointed on the Board of the Company.
