June 26, 2008 - A&P Collingwood Reopens its Doors for the Sesquicentennial

Etobicoke, June 26, 2008 – This year the town of Collingwood is celebrating its 150th anniversary and joining in on the fun is the A&P store on 640 First St. Extension. A&P will also be celebrating by reopening its doors on Friday, June 27 after undergoing renovations since April.

The grand reopening celebration begins 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning starting with the first 500 customers who will receive a free A&P Canada reusable shopping bag.

The store features new and improved departments including the full service floral department, full service seafood counter, an expanded imported cheese counter, full service gourmet meat counter, and new mini pastries.

“We want to thank everyone for their patience and excitement during the remodeling of this store and we are certain they will be impressed with our expanded departments and fresh product selection,” said John Alsop, store manager. “Everything about this store is fresh obsessed from our fresh department décor to our extensive produce department.”

Other in-store activities taking place on June 27 include musical entertainment from the Dixieland Jazz Band from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., a special visit from the Georgia Watermelon Queen, Hannah Jones between noon and 4:00 p.m. and in-store demonstrations. Customers also have a chance to win 15,000 AIR MILES reward miles.

In addition to these grand reopening activities, the local A&P in Collingwood has sponsored Collingwood’s Sesquicentennial celebration with Irresistibles ice cream specials and the giant Canada Day cake made especially for Collingwood on July 1.
