(Montreal, December 4, 2008) – For the eight
year in a row, Metro is proud to participate in "La grande
guignolée des médias" (Holiday Food Drive) by donating over
$180,000 worth of basic food items such as flour, rice, tomato
sauce and pasta, as well as some tasty treats for the young and
young-at-heart. This year, in order to meet the pressing needs of
food banks, Metro was also able to add meat and frozen foods,
thanks to Olymel generous contribution in particular, as well as
fruits and vegetables such as potatoes, apples, oranges and
clementines.
"We are very proud to once again participate in La grande guignolée
des médias. It's only natural that we should do our part for such a
worthwhile cause. We are pleased to to support the less fortunate.
It is also important to note that Metro donates money and food
items to food banks all year round," explained Marie-Claude Bacon,
Director of Corporate Affairs at Metro Inc.
