Quebec City, July 13, 2009 – From now until July
19, Metro invites you into its kitchen, specially designed to
celebrate the pleasures of food at the Festival d’été de Québec.
Food lovers are encouraged to attend cooking workshops featuring
products from Quebec and elsewhere, held three times a day in the
Metro Kitchen, located in the heart of Place d’Youville. Under the
watchful eye of chefs from the esteemed restaurant Le Saint-Amour,
participants will concoct mouth-watering dishes containing quality
ingredients found at Metro, Quebec's leading grocer.
"Metro Inc. has been a proud partner of the prestigious Festival
d’été de Québec for the past 14 years. The concept of the Metro
Kitchen fits in beautifully with the Festival in that it celebrates
the pleasures of eating well, a basic principle at Metro. We also
want to remind people about the importance of eating foods produced
locally, since Quebec abounds with top-quality products. This fact
is outlined in our Quebec at your table program, which
encourages Metro customers to purchase products produced and grown
in Quebec," stated Marie-Claude Bacon, Director of Corporate
Affairs at Metro Inc.
Whether berries, meat, or cheeses, such as Le Migneron, all our
foods are carefully selected to encourage the purchase of Quebec
products. From Mango and dill swordfish ceviche to Coconut milk
and ginger chicken breast to Chocolate truffles, amateur chefs
can experience a world of flavours while discovering the first-rate
quality and sublime taste of Metro's house brands, Selection and
Irresistibles, used by the chefs at Le Saint-Amour in their own
recipes.
The user-friendly and fully functioning Metro Kitchen revolves
around a central island where 12 epicureans can easily interact
with the chef and watch his every move closely. The recipes will be
inspired by the theme of the Metro stage: World music. At
each workshop, held daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. during the
Festival, 12 participants will be chosen on a "first come, first
served" basis, rain or shine. Amateur chefs and festival goers
alike can pick up printed copies of the recipes created by the
professional chefs.
