ETOBICOKE, ON – August 27, 2009 – Metro, a
leading Ontario grocery chain, is proud to announce the opening of
its newly-constructed Vaughan store. Located at 1390 Major
Mackenzie Drive, the store will be the first of its kind in
Vaughan. Doors open to the new Metro store on September 2 at 8:00
am following a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Store hours are 7:00 am
until 12:00 am seven days a week.
“We are excited about opening a new Metro in the growing community
of Vaughan and proud to say we have employed more than 250 people
from the area,” said Peter Marlow, Vice President Operations West,
Metro Ontario Inc. “Residents of Vaughan will find this store
caters to consumers who value fresh, well priced food choices and
the convenience of finding them in one place.”
The layout of the 45,000 sq. foot store makes navigation effortless
so shoppers will find it easier and faster to locate what they
need. The community market feel showcases everything Metro has to
offer and the store features a Pharmacy, Floral, Smoker Carvery,
Fresh 2 Go Pizza, Sushi, Salad Bar, Panini Sandwiches, Artisan
Cheese, Full Service Meat and Full Service Fish counters.
Where Metro really stands apart is in five key areas, including the
finest quality selections in meat, bakery, floral, its own private
label brands, Irresistibles and Selection, and home meal
replacement (HMR). Metro’s award winning private labels brands,
Irresistibles and Selection, offer premium foods without premium
prices and the exciting HMR category was developed under Metro’s
exclusive Fresh 2 Go brand. Fresh 2 Go offers nutritious ready-made
meal solutions to time-pressed and health-conscious families.
Metro’s participation in the popular AIR MILES rewards program
allows customers to take off with all the savings and benefits. On
every purchase Metro shoppers will have the opportunity to earn AIR
MILES which can later be redeemed for free groceries.
Another unique value program offered exclusively at Metro is its
Red Flag Savings. Designed to ensure ‘the savings go on for
aisles,’ the program offers shoppers deals on staple items that
they would typically buy every week. Highlighted in weekly flyers,
shoppers will find Red Flag savings on items like meat, eggs,
juice, bread and milk.
The Vaughan Metro is the embodiment of the company’s commitment to
offering customers the best food at the greatest value and truly
showcases ‘food at its best’.
