August 28, 2009 - Metro Installs New Sign on The West Mall Tower

Etobicoke, ON – August 28, 2009 – Metro, a leading Ontario grocery chain, will install its new sign at 170 The West Mall on August 31. The sign is the much anticipated replacement for the Dominion “D” that was removed this past spring and served as a landmark on The West Mall for decades. The new sign will feature the Metro logo with the time and temperature.

“We were overwhelmed with the public response we received when the Dominion sign was removed and are happy to announce the Metro sign is ready to take its place on the West Mall,” says Marc Giroux, Vice President Marketing, Metro Inc. “We have been changing over our stores to the Metro banner across Ontario and this sign stands as an icon for the Metro name and our customers.”

Metro has converted all Dominion, Loeb, Ultra Food & Drug and The Barn banners and is now converting all remaining A&P banners in Ontario which will finish at the end of 2009. Metro stands out with its offering in five key areas, including the finest quality selections in meat, bakery, floral, its own private label brands, Irresistibles and Selection, and home meal replacement (HMR). Perhaps one of the most exiting enhancements, the HMR category was developed under Metro’s exclusive Fresh 2 Go brand. These prepared meals offer time-pressed and health-conscious customers nutritious ready-made meal solutions for the whole family. Metro caters to consumers looking for fresh and healthy food choices and the convenience of finding them in one place.
