April 12, 2010 - Metro launches its metro&moi rewards program exclusively in the Quebec city area - A simple and advantageous program

Québec, April 12, 2010 - Metro has chosen to launch the first phase of its metro&moi program exclusively in the Quebec City area. Starting April 15, customers at the 26 Metro stores in Quebec City, Lévis, Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures and L’Ancienne-Lorette will be able to accumulate points redeemable for a discount on their grocery bill. The metro&moi program will be implemented everywhere else in Quebec by the end of 2010.

"Very straightforward, the metro&moi program will reward all Metro customers. According to a November 2009 survey, customers feel that a good rewards program should be simple and allow them to save money on their grocery bill," explained Marc Giroux, Vice-President, Marketing at Metro inc.

"The launch of this program in the Quebec City area is an important milestone for the company. For Metro, this is not only a way to reward its loyal customers, but also to redefine the relationship between grocery stores and customers, with an emphasis on recognition and simplicity. In addition to accumulating points on all in-store purchases, members will receive personalized savings coupons for their favourite brands and products," added Mr. Giroux.

This exclusive program, unmatched in the Canadian grocery industry, will provide added value to all Metro customers. Unlike loyalty programs that reward purchases starting at a minimum amount that can be as high as $20, Metro's program awards one "m" point for each dollar spent on groceries.

Every week, the Metro flyer will feature products and promotions enabling members to accumulate up to 10x the points. Starting April 15, Metro customers in the Quebec City area will also have access to bonus offers in-store and in the flyer.

Membership in the metro&moi program is free. Customers can sign up online now, at the metro.ca site, or at participating stores in the Quebec City area starting April 15.

The reward starts at 500 points. After, each 125 points gives 1$ of reward. There is no maximum.
