TORONTO, April 30, 2010 – Residents of Barrie are invited to experience food at its best in their renovated Metro store at 400 Bayfield Street beginning Friday, April 30, 2010. The store boasts the newest colours and décor and customers will receive a signature reusable shopping bag as a token of the celebration.

“I want to welcome customers to our newly renovated store and also thank them for their patience,” said Ian Searle, store manager. “Barrie is a fantastic community to live in and your Metro store will exceed your expectations.”

Ian and his staff (13 new employees were hired during the renovation) are proud to show off their 28,000 sq. ft. remodeled store with the newest décor and departments which include an expanded deli department, new bakery service counter and new Fresh 2 Go department.

Customers are invited to join in the grand opening celebrations with product tastings of key signature items in the store during the week. Other in-store activities taking place on April 30 include musical entertainment from the Dixie Land Band from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 1. Because Metro is a proud sponsor of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Metro customers also have a chance to meet and greet Toronto Maple Leaf, Luke Schenn from 12 Noon – 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 1, 2010.
