Apple and Maple Syrup Dumplings

Recipe ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup (375 mL) all-purpose flour *
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) baking powder*
- 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) cinnamon
- 1 pinch table salt
- 1/3 cup (80 mL) vegetable fat
- 1 egg*
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) plain yoghurt *
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) grated maple sugar
- 1 large apple, peeled and grated
- Syrup
- 1 1/2 cup (375 mL) maple Syrup
- 2 cups (500 mL) water.
Preparation
In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
In another bowl, mix well the vegetable fat, egg, yoghurt, maple sugar and grated apple. Fold into the dry ingredients. Set aside.
In a small pan, pour maple syrup and water. Bring to a boil.
When the syrup boils, add dough balls.
Lower heat to medium, cover and simmer gently 3 minutes.
Turn dumplings, cover and cook 3 minutes more.
