Recipe ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) all-purpose flour*
  • 1.5 lb (675 g) beef cubes
  • 2 tsp. (10 mL) Irresistibles vegetable oil*
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 cups (750 mL) beef bouillon*
  • 1/2 rutabaga, cut in cubes
  • 2 carrots, cut in coins
  • 3 Irresistibles potatoes*, cut in cubes
  • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) Irresistibles parsley*
  • To tastesalt and pepper
  • To taste cornstarch*

Preparation

Flour the beef cubes and shake lightly to remove the excess flour.
Heat the oil in a saucepan and brown the onion.
Add the beef cubes and brown on each side.
Add the beef bouillon and simmer for 30 minutes.
Add the vegetables, rutabaga, carrots and potatoes and the seasonings.
Cook for 30 minutes.

Clarifying broth: remove meat and vegetables and strain broth. Thicken broth with a little cornstarch and pour over meat and vegetables.

Thicken the sauce with a little cornstarch, if desired.

Suggestion

For a more savoury stew, use fennel for an aniseed flavour or bay leaves to heighten the taste of the bouillon.
