Recipe ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 lb. (450 g) horsemeat strips
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) minced white mushrooms
  • 1 cup (250 mL) diced canned tomatoes
  • 1/4 tsp. (1 mL) Tabasco sauce
  • To taste chilli seasoning in a packet
  • 1 can canned red beans, drained
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

In a pan, sauté the onion for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add the horsemeat strips and brown them for 5 to 6 minutes.
Add the mushrooms, tomatoes, Tabasco and Chilli seasoning.
Bring to a boil and cook on low heat, covered, for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add the red beans and reheat on low heat.

Suggestion

For a sauce with a stronger flavour and a creamier consistency, add 1 tsp. (5 mL) of curry powder and 1/3 cup (80 mL) of tomato paste before bringing it to a boil.
