Recipe ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb (675 g) lean beef, from the rump, cut in strips
  • 1/2 green pepper, diced
  • 1/2 red pepper, diced
  • 1 orange: rind and juice
  • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) hot pepper seasoning
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) brown sugar
  • Marinade
  • 1/3 cup (80 mL) freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/3 cup (80 mL) Tamari or soya sauce*
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) fresh ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) olive oil*
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) sesame oil

Preparation

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the marinade; blend in the beef and allow to marinate in the refrigerator 30-45 min.
Remove the beef strips from the marinade and drain. In a small pot, bring the marinade to a boil 10 min. and cook 1 min.; set aside.
Meanwhile, in a non-stick frying pan, sear the beef. Blend in the peppers, half the orange zest, the orange juice, the hot pepper seasoning and the brown sugar. Continue to cook for 1 min. or until the beef is cooked.
