Recipe ingredients

  • 1 lb. (450 g) ham toupie style, cut in 3/4 inch (2 cm) thick cubes
  • 2 apples, unpeeled and cut in sections
  • 12 fresh pineapple cubes
  • Marinade
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) maple syrup*
  • 2 tsp. (10 mL) soy sauce*
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) ketchup*
  • 1/3 cup (80 mL) apple juice*
  • 1 pinch Irresistible cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of Irresistible clove

Preparation

Thread cubes of ham, apple and pineapple onto brochettes. Set aside. In a glass bowl, mix all marinade ingredients.

Add the brochettes, cover and marinate in the refrigerator about 15 minutes.

Preheat barbecue at medium high.

Drain brochettes and cook all 4 sides, each for 3 to 4 minutes, on an oiled barbecue grill, brushing only with marinade while cooking.

Suggestion

Ham need not marinate as long as other meats because it is precooked. The marinade’s sole purpose is to enhance flavour.

Occasion: Brunch
