Recipe ingredients
- 8 European sausages, your choice
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) oil
- 4 oz. (398 mL) canned seasoned tomatoes, in chunks
- 1 carrot, peeled and chopped
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) fresh chopped oregano and basil
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Preheat the barbecue to medium.
Prick sausages with a fork and blanch in boiling water 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In a pan, brown onion and garlic in butter/oil. Add remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer about 5 minutes over medium heat. Adjust seasoning.
> Put sausages on a sheet of oiled aluminium foil. Brush with sauce.
Cook 6 to 10 minutes, turning often.
Baste during cooking.
Suggestion
For a more flavourful sauce, add a rib of celery, with leaves.* We recommend Selection and Irresistibles products.
