Recipe ingredients

  • 9 European sausages, your choice
  • 8 coffee mushrooms
  • 4 globe beets, cooked
  • 1 cup (250 mL) Italian-style dressing
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) fruit ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) Cayenne pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) chicken concentrate
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Preheat the barbecue to medium.
Prick sausages with a fork and blanch in boiling water 5 minutes. Drain and cut in 3.
Spear sausage chunks on brochettes, alternating with mushrooms and beets. Set aside.
In a pan, combine all sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Baste sausage brochettes with the sauce.
Cook brochettes 6 to 10 minutes, turning often.
Baste brochettes while cooking.

Suggestion

Fresh sausage is ground meat; this is why sausages must always be well-cooked to avoid food poisoning.
