Recipe ingredients

  • 2¼ lb. or so (1 kg) beef blade roast
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 2 stalks celery, minced
  • 2 carrots, sliced thin
  • 3 cups (750 mL) beef broth
  • ½ cup (125 mL) Hoisin sauce

Preparation

Season the roast.
Put the whole roast in the slow cooker.
Add vegetables, beef broth and hoisin sauce.
Cover and cook on low for 4 – 6 hours until meat is tender.

Suggestion

Serve with white rice and blanched green vegetables, broccoli florets or Brussels sprouts.
