Recipe ingredients

  • 1 cup(s) butter
  • .75 cup(s) cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cup(s) white sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup(s) flour
  • .5 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup(s) walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 8 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chunked

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Melt the butter in the microwave.
Mix the cocoa powder thoroughly and let cool. In a stand mixer, whisk the eggs at medium until fluffy.
Add sugar and mix well. Add vanilla extract. Add cocoa mixture and incorporate fully.
Add flour and mix briefly. Add chocolate chunks and lightly toasted walnut pieces. Bake in 13x9" pan for 30-40 minutes at 325°F.
Check doneness in center with toothpick. Cool pan on rack for 15 minutes before cutting.

Suggestion

• These are delicious, and simple to prepare. • Omitting the nuts is always an option. • Add chopped candied ginger for a zesty twist.
