Recipe ingredients
- 4 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
- 4 slices whole wheat sandwich bread, crusts removed
- Sufficient quantity egg sandwich filling
- Sufficient quantity ham sandwich filling
- Sufficient quantity cream cheese, at room temperature
- 6 sticks Saputo sliced mild cheddar cheese
- Sufficient quantity stuffed olives and sweet pickles
Preparation
Flatten the bread slightly with a rolling pin and spread with the filling of your choice.
Place a stick of cheddar, or olives and pickles, along one edge of a slice and roll up the bread around it. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Wrap the rolls tightly in plastic wrap and twist the ends well to seal. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Unwrap the sandwiches and cut into 3 cm (1 1/2 in) slices.
Arrange attractively like sushi in the bento box and garnish with fresh fruit and Japanese rice crackers.
Suggestion
You can find all kinds of Japanese crackers in supermarkets and specialty groceries. They are usually made of rice flour and often have soy or wasabi in them. They are extremely popular in Japan.
