Recipe ingredients
- 3/4 lb. (350 g) lean beef, from the rump, cut into strips
- Marinade
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) soya sauce
- 2 tsp. (10 mL) fresh ginger, peeled and diced
- 2 tsp. (10 mL) red wine
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) corn starch
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) sesame oil
- Seasoning
- 1 orange zest and orange juice
- 1/4 tsp. (1 mL) hot Chilli powder
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) brown sugar
Preparation
In a glass bowl, mix 10 mL (2 tbsp.) of soya sauce, the ginger, wine and corn starch and sesame oil. Add the beef and refrigerate for about 20 minutes.
Remove the beef strips from the marinade and drain well.
Brown the beef in a wok, in butter and oil, for about 1 minute.
Add half the orange zest, the orange juice, Chilli seasoning, remaining soya sauce and brown sugar.
Sauté for another minute.
Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with the rest of the orange zest.
Suggestion
Cut beef strips against the grain.For greater flavour, use sesame oil to sauté the meat.
