Recipe ingredients
- 3 lb. (1.5 kg) ready-to-eat ham
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) prepared mustard
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) brown sugar
- 1 cup (250 mL) ginger ale*
Preparation
Put ham, fat side up, in a shallow pan.
Brush with mustard, sprinkle with brown sugar and pour ginger ale over it.
Cover and bake in a preheated 325ºF (160ºC) oven about 1 hour; let stand and serve.
To microwave
Put ham, fat side up, on a rack in a microwave dish.
Brush with mustard, sprinkle with brown sugar and pour ginger ale over it.
Protect the extremities of the ham from overcooking with strips of aluminium foil, shiny side facing the meat; cover the edge with wax paper.
Cook at "Medium" 24 minutes (for a 650 watt oven), remove aluminium foil and turn ham.
Cook another 24 minutes at "Medium".
Let stand 10 to 15 minutes, covered with aluminium foil, shiny side facing the ham.
