"Chewy Granola" Bars

Recipe ingredients
- 4 cups (1 L) rolled oats*
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) linseeds
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) sesame seeds
- 1 cup (250 mL) sunflower seeds
- 1 cup (250 mL) wheat germ
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) wheat bran
- 1 cup (250 mL) toasted soy beans
- 1 1/4 cup (310 mL) grated coconut*
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) liquid honey*
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) sunflower oil*
- 1 1/2 tsp. (7 mL) vanilla extract
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350°F / 180°C.
In a large frying pan, combine all ingredients except honey, oil and vanilla.
In a pan, heat honey, oil and vanilla and pour over dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
Bake 350°F / 180°C for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring often.
Remove from oven and pour into a glass dish lined with waxed paper.
Press mix firmly, using wax paper.
Cool and cut into bars.
Suggestion
To vary the flavour of these bars, add raisins, dried apricots and chopped nuts.Occasion: Lunch Box
