Recipe ingredients

  • 4 oz (115 g) fresh bacon, cubed
  • 5 lb. (2.25 kg) cubed beef sirloin
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • Water to cover
  • 1/4 (60 mL) cup beef concentrate
  • 1 turnip, cubed
  • 6 carrots, sliced
  • 4 ribs celery, in sections
  • 2 cups (500 mL) cups yellow beans
  • 2 cups (500 mL) cups green beans
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

In a pan, brown bacon and beef.
Add onions.
Cover with boiling water, add beef concentrate and simmer uncovered 2 hours.
Add the other vegetables, herbs, salt and pepper.
Cook 30 minutes.
