Recipe ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) chopped fresh ginger
- 2 red sweet peppers, chopped
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) butter
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) oil
- 2 cups (500 mL) dry white wine
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) fish sauce
- 4 1/2 lb. (2 kg) mussels, washed and brushed
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) chopped fresh basil
- Pepper to taste
Preparation
In a saucepan, brown onion, green onion, ginger and red pepper in butter and oil for 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add wine and fish sauce and continue cooking for 3 minutes.
Add mussels. Cover and cook 4-5 minutes over medium heat until mussels open, shaking pan from time to time so that heat is evenly distributed.
Add basil, shaking pan again so that basil is evenly distributed throughout. Remove from heat and serve.
Suggestion
An equal amount of small to medium clams can be substituted for half the mussels.* We recommend Selection and Irresistibles products.
