Traditional Tetley Tea Bread

Recipe ingredients
- 1 cup (250 mL) strong Tetley tea, hot
- 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) brown sugar*
- 1 cup (250 mL) raisins
- 1 cup (250 mL) mixed fruit, dried
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) orange juice*
- 1 egg*
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) melted butter*
- 1 3/4 cups (430 mL) flour*
- 1 1/2 tsp. (7.5 mL) baking powder*
- 1/2 tsp. (2.5 mL) salt
- 1/2 tsp. (2.5 mL) nutmeg
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) cinnamon
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F / 175°C
Mix together: tea, brown sugar, raisins, mixed fruits, orange juice, egg, butter. Let stand until cool.
Add: flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Blend and pour batter into a greased 9 in. x 5 in. loaf pan.
Bake for 1-1/2 hours or until you can insert a toothpick and it comes away clean. Cool, and enjoy!
