Recipe ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) vegetable oil*
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 lb. (450 g) beef for Chinese fondue, thawed
  • 2 tsp. (10 mL) Italian seasonings (Italiano)
  • 4 7-in. (18-cm) submarine buns
  • 4 tsp. (20 mL) mustard*
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup (250 mL) mixed grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, brick)*

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C.
In a skillet, heat oil and cook onion and pepper. Add beef and Italian seasonings, cook and set aside.
Slice buns in two and spread with mustard. Fill with shredded lettuce and beef mixture and top with cheese.
Put sandwiches on a baking sheet.
Bake about 10 min or until cheese is slightly melted.
