Recipe ingredients

  • 1 lb. (450 g) lean ground veal
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) coarsely chopped pine nuts
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) chopped preserved ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices havarti cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

Preparation

Preheat barbecue to medium.
In a bowl, mix veal, egg, pine nuts, ginger, balsamic vinegar, parsley, salt and pepper together.
Make 4 large balls. Flatten into patties.
Place patties on the grill and cook until inside shows no pink.
Meanwhile, toast buns on the grill.
One minute before end of cooking time, place a slice of havarti on each patty.
Slip patties into buns and garnish to taste (lettuce, mayonnaise, mustard).
