Recipe ingredients

  • 4 sheets frozen puff pastry dough
  • 6 oz. (180 g) fresh young spinach
  • 14 oz. (400 g) maple-cured ham, sliced thin
  • 14 oz. (400 g) Canadian Swiss cheese, grated
  • 1 egg*
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) milk

Preparation

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Thaw puff pastry dough. Set aside.
Blanch spinach 5 seconds in boiling water.
Rinse under cold water, squeeze water out. Set aside.
Place ham in centre of each sheet of dough.
Top ham with spinach.
Sprinkle with grated Swiss cheese.
Rub a little water around edges of dough.
Fold dough over to make turnovers.
Put turnovers on a cookie sheet.
Beat egg with milk and brush turnovers with egg wash.
Bake about 20 minutes.
