Recipe ingredients
- 3/4 cup (180 mL) dried shallots
- 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) salted butter*
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) white wine
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) maple syrup*
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) beef broth
- Pepper to taste.
Preparation
Quarter shallots; cook in butter, covered over low heat.
Deglaze pan with cider vinegar; wet with white wine.
Add maple syrup and beef broth; cook covered over low heat until liquid has fully evaporated. Season.
Store until ready to serve.
Suggestion
You can make this compote with red or white onions. To keep as long as possible in the refrigerator, top compote with olive oil.* We recommend Selection and Irresistibles products.
