Recipe ingredients
- 1/3 cup (80 mL) Canola Harvest margarine
- 1/3 cup (80 mL) molasses
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup (250 mL) each: all-purpose and whole-wheat flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. (7 mL) baking powder
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) orange zest
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) each: ground cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) crushed cloves
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) milk
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C.
In a bowl, cream margarine and molasses.
Mix in eggs one at a time; set aside.
In another bowl, mix dry ingredients together.
Stir into creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
Lightly grease a 5 x 9-in. (23 x 13-cm) pan with margarine.
Pour batter into pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean, about 45 min.
