Recipe ingredients
- 1 lb. (450 g) firm tofu
- 1 egg *
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) roasted sesame oil
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) fresh Parmesan, grated
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 green onion, minced
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) fine breadcrumbs*1 cup (250 mL) fine breadcrumbs *
- 4 large onion or sesame hamburger buns
Preparation
Preheat fryer to 400°F (200°C).
With food processor, reduce tofu to a paste.
In a bowl, combine tofu paste, egg, sesame oil, Parmesan cheese, carrot and green onion.
Add 1/2 cup (125 mL) breadcrumbs to mixture.
Divide mixture into 4 equal parts and shape large 1/2-inch thick patties.
Dredge patties with breadcrumbs 1 cup (250 mL).
Fry patties in fryer, 8-10 minutes or until golden and firm.
Serve buns with tofu patties.
Suggestion
Tofu is a great source of proteins. For this recipe, if you don't have a fryer, heat 3 cups (750 mL) canola oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.* We recommend Selection and Irresistibles products.
