Recipe ingredients

  • 1 (340 g) bag sliced squid
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) all-purpose flour
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 wedges, fresh lemon
  • Tabasco sauce to taste

Preparation

Pat squid dry with a clean tea towel.

Dredge squid in seasoned flour, dip in beaten egg and dredge again. Set aside.

In a skillet, heat oil until hot. Fry reserved squid for 15-20 seconds until light golden brown and tender. For even cooking, fry in 2-3 batches.

Serve with lemon wedges and a few drops of Tabasco sauce.
