Recipe ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) butter
  • 3 cups (750 mL) sliced mushrooms
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) sliced green onions
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. (22 mL) flour
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 4 large croissants, sliced in half
  • 8 slices ham
  • 6 oz (180 g) Canadian Camembert, sliced

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. In saucepan, melt butter. Cook mushrooms and onions until soft and liquid has evaporated. Stir in flour. Gradually add milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Salt and pepper to taste. On bottom half of each croissant, layer 2 slices of ham, a quarter of the cheese and a quarter of the mushroom sauce. Place other half of croissant on top. Bake about 15 minutes or until hot.

Suggestion

Use pâté and Canadian Brie or Swiss instead of ham and Camembert.
