Recipe ingredients
- 1 1/4 lb (565 g) lean ground veal
- 2 Tbsp. (30 g) finely chopped onion
- 4 slices of bacon*
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) butter*
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sauce
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) fresh basil
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) fresh oregano
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) Irresistibles canola oil*
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) sugar*
- 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) tomato paste*
- 6 tomatoes, peeled, seeded and coarsely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Preheat oven at 375°F (190°C).
Mix ground veal with onion. Salt and pepper. Make four patties and trim with bacon. Hold with a string
or a toothpick.
In a saucepan, fry patties in butter over medium heat until well browned on both sides. Finish baking in oven for about 20 minutes. Let sit for 2 to 3 minutes.
For the sauce, lightly brown garlic, onion and fines herbs in oil. Add salt, pepper, sugar, tomato paste and tomatoes.
Let simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. Use food processor to blend to smooth consistency.
Serve veal patties with sauce, potatoes and beans.
