Recipe ingredients
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) extra virgin olive oil*
- 1 lb. (450 g) ground beef
- 3/4 cup (180 mL) diced onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 stalks celery, diced
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) grated carrots
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped green peppers
- 3 cups (750 mL) diced plum tomatoes
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) tomato paste*
- 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) chopped fresh oregano
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) chopped fresh basil
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) crushed chilis
Preparation
In a big pot, brown beef in oil over medium heat.
Add onion, garlic, celery, carrots and green pepper and cook a few minutes, stirring.
Add tomatoes and tomato paste. Bring to a boil.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover.
Cook on low or in a 300°F/150°C oven for another 2 1/2 hours, stirring from time to time.
Suggestion
Serve over pasta or use to make lasagna.* We recommend Selection and Irresistibles products.
