  • Maple Pear Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) butter *
  • 4 pears, sliced
  • 1 cup (250 mL) Sirobec maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) country cream *
  • French Toast
  • 4 eggs *
  • 1 cup (250 mL) milk
  • 2 Tsp. (10 mL) vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) butter *
  • 8 slices Irresistibles apple and cinnamon bread*
  • Gruyère or Swiss cheese, small cubes or slices, to taste

Preparation

Maple Pear Sauce
In a pan, melt butter and cook pear slices over medium heat 5 minutes.

Add maple syrup and cook another 5 minutes. Add cream and simmer a few minutes. Keep warm.

French Toast
In a bowl, beat eggs and milk. Add vanilla extract and mix well.

In a large frying pan, heat half the butter over medium-high heat.

Dip bread, one slice at a time, in the egg mixture; brown 3 or 4 slices of bread at a time about 2 minutes on each side. Keep warm. Repeat for the remaining bread and butter.

Cover with pear and maple sauce. Garnish with cheese.

Suggestion

Replace Irresistibles of Merit Selection apple and cinnamon bread with Irresistibles of Merit Selection maple bread.
