Recipe ingredients
- 500 g (1 lb) potatoes
- 150 g (5 oz) Canadian Gouda, diced
- 125 mL (1/2 cup) 35% (whipping) cream
- 125 mL (1/2 cup) milk
- Fresh chives or parsley, chopped
- 1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
Preparation
Peel potatoes and cut in thin slices. Cook in lightly salted boiling water for about 10 minutes, or until soft. Drain and arrange in a gratin dish.
Preheat broiler. In a saucepan, combine cheese, whipping cream and milk. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until cheese is melted. Be careful not to boil. Remove from heat, stir in chives, nutmeg and pepper to taste. Pour over potatoes and broil until golden.
