Recipe ingredients
- 8 cups (2 L) water
- 2 lb. (900 g) fresh pork spare ribs
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 bouquet garni
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) sunflower oil
- 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) blueberry honey
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) chili sauce
- 2 tsp. (10 mL) grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) dried pitted dates, chopped
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) white wine
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
In a pan, bring water to a boil. Add spare ribs, onion, bouquet garni, bay leaf, salt and pepper.
Simmer 45 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Preheat the barbecue to medium.
In a pan, combine all sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer 2 minutes.
Place spare ribs on a sheet of oiled aluminium foil and brush with sauce.
Cook 5 to 7 minutes on each side.
