Recipe ingredients
- 2 lb (1 kg) pork back ribs, cut into 2-rib portions
- 1 cup (250 mL) Heinz Chili Sauce
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) lemon juice*
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) Heinz Mustard
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) minced onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) brown sugar*
- 1/4 tsp. (1 mL) salt
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350° F (180° C).
Place ribs in a 13 x 9-in (3 L) baking dish.
Combine chili sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire, mustard, onions, garlic, brown sugar and salt. Set aside one quarter of this mixture. Pour remaining sauce over ribs. Cover baking dish tightly with foil.
Bake covered ribs for 50 minutes or until tender. Baste occasionally with pan sauces.
Remove foil for last 10 minutes of cooking and brush with the reserved sauce. Turn as needed.
Grilling instructions
Increase brown sugar in sauce to 1/4 cup (60 mL).
Combine all sauce ingredients; bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, parboil ribs in salted water for 45 minutes. Remove ribs from water and toss with half the sauce.
Preheat the grill to medium heat. Grill ribs, turning and basting often with remaining sauce, for about 15 minutes or until well glazed.
Cooking time for grilled ribs: 45 minutes to parboil and 15 minutes on the grill.)
