Recipe ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) Irresistibles organic colza oil*
  • 1 3/4 lb. (800 g) chuck roast
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 Portobello mushrooms, sliced
  • 8 oz. (225 g) white mushrooms, cut into quarters
  • 3/4 cup (180 mL) red wine
  • 2 cups (500 mL) beef broth*

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 325ºF (170ºC).
In a large frying pan, heat the oil over high heat and sear the meat on all sides.
Remove the meat from the pan and set aside. Add the onion and mushrooms. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
Deglaze the pan with the wine and let simmer for 1 minute. Add the broth and place the meat back in the pan.
Cook in the oven for 2 hours.

Suggestion

A slow, gentle method of cooking that wafts the house with a welcoming aroma. That is what awaits you with braised beef! This method is ideal for the bottom blade.
Calculate about 2½ hours per kilo (1 1/4 hours per pound) in a 170° C (325° F) oven.
