Recipe ingredients

  • 9 European sausages (Toulouse, tomato-mushroom, Italian-style)
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) fruit ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) paprika
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) pepper
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

Preheat the barbecue to medium.
Prick sausages with a fork and blanch in boiling water 5 minutes. Drain and cut in 3.
Spear sausage chunks on brochettes. Set aside.
In a pan, combine all sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Baste sausage brochettes with the hot sauce.
Cook brochettes 6 to 10 minutes, turning often.
Baste brochettes while cooking.

Suggestion

For a spicier sauce, add a few drops Tabasco sauce.
