Recipe ingredients

  • 500 mL (2 cups) sugar*
  • 430 mL (1 ¾ cup) flour*
  • 180 mL (¾ cup) cocoa*
  • 10 ml (2 tsp.) baking soda*
  • 5 mL (1 tsp. ) baking powder*
  • 2.5 mL (½ tsp.) salt
  • 2 eggs*
  • 250 mL (1 cup) buttermilk or sour milk
  • 250 mL (1 cup) Irresistible* very strong black coffee
  • 125 mL (½ cup) vegetable oil *
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla

Preparation

Preheat the oven at 180 ºC (350 ºF).

In the bowl of a pastry blender, mix all ingredients at medium speed for 2 minutes until the dough is clear.

Pour the dough in a springform pan of 33 cm x 23 cm x 5 cm (13 in x 9 in x 2 in), greased and dusted with flour.   Bake in the oven for 40 to 50 minutes.

Once the cake has cooled, remove from the mould and cut lengthwise. Cut a piece and split in two.

Place the berries and some Chantilly cream on the bottom part.

Place the other half over the fruits.
