Recipe ingredients
- 4 oz (125 g) frozen puff pastry, thawed, or short crust pastry
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) honey*
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) slivered almonds
- 2 pears, peeled and sliced very fine
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375 °F (190 °C).
Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface.
Line a 9-in. (23-cm) pie plate with pastry, cutting off excess.
In a bowl, combine honey and almonds.
Cover the pastry with sliced pears and add honey-almond mixture.
Bake in the centre of the oven about 30 minutes or until crust is puffed and golden brown.
Suggestion
Pears keep best at room temperature, but not all piled up in a fruit bowl or basket.
Very ripe pears should be stored in the
refrigerator. Pears can be frozen; simply peel, cut into wedges and poach for a few minutes in boiling water to which lemon juice has been added.
