Recipe ingredients

  • 8 sausages: European, Mexican, German
  • 1 papaya, cubed
  • 1 tin lichees, drained
  • Warm Honey Basting Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) liquid honey*
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) sugar*
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) grainy mustard
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) Irresistibles white wine vinegar*
  • ½ cup (125 mL) Irresistibles extra virgin olive oil*

Preparation

Preheat the barbecue to medium.
Blanch the sausages in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes.Drain and cut each into 3.
Thread the sausage chunks onto skewers, alternating with papaya cubes and lichees. Set aside.
In a saucepan, place all the sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Let simmer for 1 to 2 minutes and keep warm.
Baste the sausage brochettes with the warm sauce and grill for 6 to 10 minutes. Turn frequently, basting the brochettes while they cook.

Suggestion

Use sausages as a garnish for pasta or rice: cook them in boiling water for 10 to 12 minutes. Drain and slice lengthwise.
Remove the membrane and cut up the sausage.
Accompaniments:  basmati rice and honey-basted asparagus.
